The beautiful town centre of Prague was never designed with a view to accommodating thousands of motor vehicles each day and in recent years the city has become as congested as any other capital in Western Europe. This is also reflected in the parking situation with increasing numbers of cars competing for decreasing numbers of parking spaces as the city reclaims some of these back for its own residents.
There is a clear system however and once you understand this you will be able to find the best parking option of you.
Within the city there are three colour coded zones: orange, green and blue.
The parking areas are indicated by signs at the start of each section of the street. Please look out for these. You should be aware that traffic wardens and traffic policemen are commonly seen figures on the streets of Prague and failure to abide by the parking rules may well see your car towed away.
At the present only the districts Prague 1, 2, 3 and 7 have implemented residential and paid parking zones. Parking in all other districts of Prague remains free. This may change in the near future however as other Prague councils see the opportunity to make some extra money. We will keep you posted.

Dear All,
I am coming to Prague on a holiday and I was wandering if you can give me an advice where to park the car for 4 days. Of course, parking price is important to me, and I would like to pay not more than 10 euros per day.
Can you recommend me some parking garages where i can park the car in this price?
Awaiting for your answer and thanking you in advance.
Best regards,
Zeljko

Hallo Zeljko,
If the price is important factor in your decision, then you should consider park and ride parking houses. You can park your car there, but you need to inform the parking staff that you will be staying longer then one day. You can find the full list of park and ride places on our website.

Hello! Just one question… is there 31.12. free of charge? I will stay for 4 days in Sokolska (hostel), but I don`t know where to park my car. Is there near a free parking place?

There is no free parking in the blue zone at all. If you find a paid zone, that is paid only from Monday to Friday, then you can stay there free of charge from 1st until the 3rd. So you will have to pay for the 31st since that day is not considered to by a public holiday. If you park your car in Prague 10, then you can stay there for free the whole time, since there are no parking zones.

Hallo Maja,
you can park free of charge in all Prague districts apart Prague 1, 2, 3 and 7. Prague 4 is zone free, so you can park on the street free of charge. Although the volume of car crime is much higher in this part of Prague.
